This year again, IBISKA staff will be paddling and fund raising in the Annual Enbridge Canoe for Kids on Saturday June 1st at Mooney’s Bay.
This is a wonderful event that we all enjoy and care deeply about. It is a fun way to make a difference in the lives of children from disadvantaged families in our community. In the past years, through our paddling effort and the generosity of our sponsors, more kids have had the opportunity to spend two weeks at the Christie Lake summer camp and to enjoy after-school programs.
Many people have been helped by the Christie Lake Summer Camp – and we are always touched by their stories, such as these words from a regular sponsor: “When my kids were young and I was struggling to make ends meet, my kids benefited from this program, and it made such a difference in all of our lives. Now that I am able, I am happy to have the opportunity to give something back”
Last year IBISKA’s paddling team has placed third for funds raised in the event, and Cathy Loosley, our team captain, was the top fundraiser overall in the individual category!
