Marking the first official week of fall, IBISKA employees took to Ottawa’s paths and waterways Monday morning to participate in the City of Ottawa’s Cleaning the Capital program. The team collected 9 bags of garbage along the multi-use path east of the Rideau Locks on the banks of the Ottawa River.
“It’s important to me to feel like I am doing my part,” one employee remarked. Nearly half of IBISKA’s staff were able to participate, collecting a wide array of debris, from an abandoned fishing pole to a waterlogged bicycle helmet.
IBISKA’s Social Responsibility Committee would like to offer a big thank-you to the City for running the Cleaning the Capital program and encouraging community members to reduce littering. “We’re prioritizing creating a positive impact in our community,” commented a key member of IBISKA’s Social Responsibility Committee.
The newly-formed committee aims to get back to IBISKA’s pre-pandemic roots in community involvement and foster new opportunities for growth. IBISKA aims to create positive social change by supporting community initiatives and local organizations who provide services to vulnerable populations in our community. The committee also focuses on promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in our workplace through employee education opportunities.
