IBISKA’ers are not only generous community supporters but they are also active and fun people with strong team spirit ! We have paddled, biked, cleaned, ran, walked and dressed up in bright pink accessories to support a broad range of community worthy causes.
This year again, under the leadership of Diana Braaskma, IBISKA put together a team to raise funds for breast cancer research and raise breast cancer awareness as part of the CIBC Run for the Cure event.
Team IBISKA, along with family members and friends joined hundreds of dedicated contributors and, regardless of health, age or physical fitness levels, all demonstrated a lively “pink attitude”.
While some leisurely enjoyed the walk by the Ottawa River, many had trained long and hard for this challenge, beating time and endurance records. The team of IBISKA runners and walkers were blessed with a warm and sunny morning. Each proudly displayed on their t-shirts the names of those they were partaking in the experience for.
The IBISKA runners and walkers dramatically exceeded their fundraising goal with a final total of $2875.00 raised! We were especially pleased with the number of IBISKA participants at this year’s event.
It is said that all Canadians know, or know of, an individual affected by breast cancer. IBISKA dares to imagine a future without breast cancer, though the battle may be far from over. Thankfully, the Team IBISKA pink tradition is now well rooted among our autumnal activities and here to stay.
Thank you for all that donated or provided encouragement.
